Yosuke Watanabe

Drawing inspiration from everyday objects, Yosuke Watanabe’s designs seem familiar at first sight, but are then revealed to be different, often discordant.

Born in Osaka, Japan in 1979, Watanabe spent his childhood in Brazil, the US and UK, where he studied furniture design at Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College.

By reinventing apparently familiar objects, Yosuke Watanabe hopes to engage people’s imagination by triggering memories of their own experiences and observations. He also enjoys designing objects which evolve over time thereby creating new memories for the people who have used them.
